Are you the victim of a punitive work ethic?

Several hundred of you have downloaded our preview teleclass from last week, Opening to Possibility. I hope you’re enjoying it. It’s a great taste of what you can expect if you join us for the next Artist’s Way program.

There were quite a few great moments in last week’s class, and some are great fodder for your Morning Pages.

Here’s one in which Navé talks about the punitive work ethic we as artists and creatives can get caught up in.

Some questions to ponder…

• Do you get caught in this punitive work ethic trap? With your creative work? In doing The Artist’s Way?

• How does this limit you?

• What would it take for you to play rather than perfect?

• What action might you take today to turn this punitive work ethic on it’s head?

If you have any insights you’d like share, you can do so in the comments.

Enjoy!

    Susan,

I can get caught up in the punitive work ethic prior to immersing in the work. Once I arrive at the page, invention, etc. I disappear into the work and the earth could go to hell in a hand basket and I wouldn’t know it, until I come out the other side. The hard part is finding the portal between the List Of Things To Do in my head and disappearing down the rabbit hole.
